Dum Spiro, Spero

While I breathe, I hope
And there is nothing
No one
That can take that away from me
My everlasting hope
Is the beacon of light shining through
At the end of a dark and dreary tunnel
It is the one piece of myself
That I will never surrender
Take my body
Steal my thoughts
Rip my heart to pieces
And shred my soul
But while there is still air in my lungs
And breath in my body
My hope will persevere
I shall not altogether die
My fragile, mortal shell may perish
But my soul will survive
My essence is deeply entrenched
Within my hope
My dreams and legacy
Lie at the centre of my hope
So kill my spirit
And break my body
But while I breathe, I hope
And no man, structure or force
May ever take that away from me
Because my hope springs eternal
Dum Spiro, Spero
Dum Spero, ego potest non vinci
